Vinaka for the Defibrillator

first_imgThe people of Fiji’s Yasawa Islands now have access to the region’s first mobile defibrillator thanks to a partnership between Vinaka Fiji Volunteering and Australian charity Heroes Need Heroes Inc.The defibrillator will be kept on the South Sea Cruises vessel the Yasawa Flyer II which transports hundreds of passengers and Yasawa residents around the area daily. It will help with resuscitation in the event of a cardiac arrest.Its donation marks the launch of a healthcare partnership between Vinaka for the defibrillator Vinaka Fiji Volunteering and Heroes Need Heroes who will provide a community-based CPR and first aid improvement programme for the Yasawa Islands.Five further defibrillators will be given to various village clinics as part of a FJD$46,280 donation from the programme, which will see Australian paramedics donating their time to teach lifesaving skills to the villagers.
