Watermill Traffic Stop Nets 10-lb. Pot Plant Bust

first_imgSign up for our COVID-19 newsletter to stay up-to-date on the latest coronavirus news throughout New York Southampton police released this image of the pot plants they said they found during a traffic stop this weekend.Two men have been arrested for having more than 10 pounds of freshly harvested marijuana plants following a traffic stop in Watermill over the weekend, Southampton Town Police said.Officers pulled over a vehicle driven by 38-year-old Daniel Dost of Centereach when they smelled the pot and found two garbage bags full of weed in the backseat shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday, police said.Dost and his passenger, 43-year-old William Whelan of Lake Grove, were each charged with felony possession of marijuana and unlawfully growing marijuana, a misdemeanor.Dost was also charged with driving without a license and traffic violations.Bail for Dost was set at $8,100 and bail for Whelan was set at $10,100.The incident comes after three alleged marijuana growing cases in the past six weeks on Long Island, including a Laurel man who was found with 57 pot plants in late August, a man who was found at a Commack pot farm hidden in a sump and two men busted at an Old Brookville nursery where 150 plants were discovered.last_img
