first_imgJune 22, 2020 /Sports News – Local Utah State Men’s Basketball Announces Addition of Russian National Zahar Vedischev Brad James Tags: Utah State Men’s Basketball FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailLOGAN, Utah-Utah State men’s basketball head coach Craig Smith announced the signing of 6-6 Russian national, guard Zahar Vedischev.The native of Moscow will have four seasons of eligibility to compete for the Aggies as he will be a new freshman.Vedischev played for Russia’s national squad in the U19 World Basketball Championships at Heraklion, Greece.Vedischev averaged 16.5 points per game during this tournament, scoring 22 or more points in each of his final three games.During this tournament, Vedischev shot 41.5 percent from the field, 40.4 percent behind the arc and 83.3 percent at the foul line.For the past two seasons, Vedischev has played for PBC Lokomotiv Kuban-2 of Krasnodar, Russia, netting 28.5 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists per game.Smith lauded Vedischev, saying “Z is a skilled guard with excellent size at 6-6.”Despite his freshman status, Smith said Vedischev “brings a wealth of quality experience to our program.” Written bylast_img
