The 63-year-old former Benfica youth coach replaced German coach Nicolai Adam, who left his position under virulent circumstances involving the players. Nicolai Adam left his position as India U-17 head coach in January 2017. He was replaced by Luis Norton de Matos and since then India has played 24 matches. As goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh revealed to Goal, Norton gives priority to keeping the ball and taking more risks with it on the field. With the team set to take on the United States in the tournament opener in Delhi on Friday, Norton and his boys will be hoping they can execute their plans successfully.
